Highlights of the year
Carnalagoa (February)
Lagoa Santa's Carnival brings residents and tourists together in street parades (blocos) and concerts with the lagoon as the backdrop. It is one of the busiest times of the year: book your lodging in advance.
Fest-Vôlei and car audio contest (April)
A volleyball tournament that draws teams from across the region, accompanied by the traditional car audio competition. A lively program for anyone who enjoys sports and music.
Town anniversary (July 21)
Lagoa Santa's independence was signed into law on July 21, 1997, and the date falls right in the middle of the high season. The City Hall usually lines up concerts, tournaments and cultural events, and the town fills up. Check the official program at lagoasanta.go.gov.br.
Expo Lagoa (September)
New in 2026: the 1st Expo Lagoa brought together bull riding, cutiano rodeo, barrel racing and concerts by Gabriel Gava, Talles & Júnior, Gustavo Moura & Rafael and Jennifer Scheffer, from September 17 to 20, with free admission. The organizers intend to make the fair a fixture on the calendar. See the Expo Lagoa page.
Patron Saint Festival and CELEBRAI (October)
Our Lady of Aparecida, the municipality's patron saint, is celebrated on October 12 with Mass, a procession and a church fair. The same month brings CELEBRAI, a praise and worship celebration that gathers churches from across the region.
Fishing Festival
The Lagoa Santa Fishing Festival reached its 22nd edition in 2026, contested in pairs. Throughout the year, the City Hall also organizes fishing pools ("bolões de pesca") at the Lago Municipal Clarito Pereira Campos.
