Optional days off
Carnival (Monday and Tuesday) and Corpus Christi are federal optional days off, not public holidays. In practice, public offices and many shops close, and for tourism they work like long weekends. Ash Wednesday usually has reduced hours. Commemorative dates such as Public Servants' Day (10/28) may become a municipal optional day off by decree; check.
What are Lagoa Santa's municipal holidays?
Two: July 21, the anniversary of emancipation (State Law 13,134/1997), and October 12, day of the patron saint Nossa Senhora Aparecida, which coincides with the national holiday. Both are confirmed by an annual City Hall decree.
Does Goiás have a state holiday?
There is no fixed state holiday in Goiás. The State Government may declare optional days off on specific dates; check that year's decrees.
What is the busiest holiday in Lagoa Santa?
Carnival, because of Carnalagoa, and the year-end festivities, along with the July holidays. In these periods, book lodging months in advance.
